Course Highlights:
- Manikens: Students build organs, tissues, and vessels on miniature Manikens with clay. Anytime a new system is covered, the students will add the components to the model. This is something the students will work on the whole year!!!
- Forensic Anthropologists: Students analyze bone remains to determine the person's age, race, height and gender.
- Gel Electrophoresis Lab: Students further identity the person through gel electrophoresis. DNA extracted from the skeletal remains is compared with DNA from individuals on the missing person's list. Students analyze gel banding patterns for a match.
Cow Eye Dissection: Learn the parts of the eye. Identify what eye structure leads to normal vision, myopia (aka nearsightedness), and hyperyopia (farsightedness).
Reflex Lab: Students compare response time to reflex and voluntary actions using probes and data acquisition software.
Lung Capacity Lab: Students use probes and data acquisition software to monitor lung function and oxygen intake.
Cow Knee Joint Dissection: Students dissect the joint to visualize the connection between skeletal muscle and bone.
